The father of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has dismissed claims that his son’s use of a hair patch triggered the events leading to his murder, asserting that accused Siya Goyal and her family were fully aware of it before the couple got engaged.
Vishal Agarwal said Ketan wore “a small patch of wig” but insisted there was no question of deception. “It is true that Ketan wore a small patch of wig. Siya and her family had been informed about it before the engagement. If she had any issues, she should have said no. What was the need to kill my son?” he told reporters.
His remarks come as investigators examine various possible motives behind the killing, with speculation emerging that Siya may have been upset after learning about Ketan’s hair patch. Police, however, have not identified it as the definitive motive and say the investigation is still underway.
Vishal Agarwal also disputed the Goyal family’s claim that Ketan had planned the trek to Lohagad Fort.
“As per my information, it was Siya who wanted to go on the trek,” he said.
According to police, 26-year-old Ketan was killed on June 18 after being lured to Pune’s historic Lohagad Fort by his fiancée. Investigators allege that Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, pushed him into a 300-foot gorge before attempting to make his death appear to be an accidental fall while he was posing for photographs.
Police have described the murder as premeditated, alleging that the accused made multiple unsuccessful attempts to kill Ketan before carrying out the fatal attack at the fort. The exact motive behind the alleged conspiracy remains under investigation.
