Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi Walks Out of Assembly Over National Anthem and Governance Concerns.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Tuesday skipped his customary address to the Assembly, expressing anger that the National Anthem was not played alongside the state anthem at the start of the session. In a statement, he said, “The National Anthem is yet again insulted, and the Fundamental Constitutional Duty disregarded.”

The Governor also raised serious governance concerns:

Investment Misrepresentation: Claims of over ₹12 lakh crore in investments are misleading, with many MOUs still unfulfilled. Tamil Nadu has slipped from the fourth to the sixth largest FDI recipient among states. Safety and Crime: A 55% rise in POCSO cases, 33% increase in sexual molestation, growing drug abuse among youths, and escalating atrocities against Dalits highlight social concerns ignored by authorities.

Suicides: Around 20,000 suicides in a year make Tamil Nadu the so-called “Suicide Capital of India.”

Education and Local Governance: Declining standards, mismanaged institutions, and defunct Village Panchayats deny citizens their democratic rights.

Temple Administration: Thousands of temples lack Boards of Trustees despite Madras High Court directives.

MSME Stress: Entrepreneurs face rising costs, prompting relocation outside the state.

The Governor cited these issues, along with the anthem protocol dispute, as his reason for walking out, emphasizing both ceremonial respect and governance lapses.
