Trump Claims US Has ‘1,000 Missiles Locked and Loaded’ if Iran Targets Him

US President Donald Trump on Saturday said he has already authorised a devastating military response against Iran if Tehran attempts to assassinate him, claiming that “1,000 missiles are locked and loaded” and aimed at the country.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said standing orders had been issued to the US military to retaliate with overwhelming force if Iran acted on what he described as a longstanding threat against his life. “One thousand missiles are locked and loaded and aimed at Iran, should it act on its threat to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, a sitting President of the United States, in this case me,” Trump wrote.

He added that the initial strike would be followed by “thousands more” missiles, claiming the military was fully prepared to carry out the operation. “Orders have already been given, and the US military is ready, willing and able, for a one-year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran,” he said.

‘I’ve Been on Iran’s Kill List for Years’

Trump reiterated the claim during an interview with the New York Post, saying he has long been a target of the Iranian regime and had left explicit instructions in case he was assassinated. “I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” Trump said. “The only thing is, I’ve left instructions, if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”

Despite the warning, Trump said there was no new intelligence suggesting an imminent assassination attempt. He also dismissed reports that Israel had recently uncovered fresh evidence of an alleged Iranian plot against him. “No, no. Israel came up with nothing. I’ve been No. 1 on Iran’s kill list for a long time, and it’s the way life is,” he said.

Backdrop of Long-Running US-Iran Tensions

Trump’s comments come against the backdrop of years of hostility between Washington and Tehran following the 2020 US drone strike that killed top Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad.

Iran has repeatedly vowed revenge for Soleimani’s killing, while US authorities have over the years announced multiple alleged Iran-linked plots targeting Trump. Tehran has consistently denied any involvement in such plans.

Earlier this week, Trump again described himself as Iran’s “number one target” while maintaining that the country must never be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. He also said he did not expect any future confrontation with Tehran to develop into a prolonged conflict.

Claims on Fresh US-Iran Talks

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump claimed Iran had approached the United States to resume negotiations but said Washington had informed Tehran that the ceasefire was over. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue talks. We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the ceasefire is over,” Trump wrote.
