US President Donald Trump has said the American military is constructing a “massive complex” beneath the new ballroom being built at the White House, adding that the project is progressing ahead of schedule.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said the underground facility is currently under construction alongside the ballroom and that work on the project is moving “very well.”

According to recent reports, Trump has described the ballroom as sitting above a large, security-focused underground structure, highlighting modern safety features tied to the development.

The ballroom project itself—estimated to cost hundreds of millions of dollars and funded through private donations—has sparked political, legal, and architectural debate in the United States. Critics have raised concerns about its impact on the historic White House complex, while supporters argue it will modernize facilities for large events.

Trump has maintained that the construction is on track and will be completed before the end of his term, framing it as a major upgrade to the White House infrastructure.
