UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer Labels Paytm the “Superstar” of Indian Fintech

At the Global Fintech Festival (GFF) 2025, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer praised India’s emerging prominence in the global fintech arena, singling out Paytm as a leading innovator driving the country’s fintech growth internationally.

Addressing a gathering of industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, Starmer remarked, “This room has the superstars of Indian fintech, increasingly looking out to the world. I am here to extend an invitation to all of you to do business with Britain and see the UK as your gateway to global markets.”

He highlighted how Indian fintech firms, powered by technological innovation, digital inclusion, and entrepreneurial scale, are gaining recognition globally. Starmer’s acknowledgment positioned Paytm as a symbol of India’s digital advancement and a potential partner in the UK’s expanding fintech ecosystem.

The UK Prime Minister’s call for Indian fintech leaders to explore business opportunities in Britain emphasizes a shared goal of fostering cross-border collaboration and innovation. Paytm, among other companies, is actively exploring global expansion, reinforcing India–UK cooperation in financial technology.

At the festival, Paytm also introduced India’s first AI-powered Soundbox for payments, an advanced tool aimed at enhancing merchant efficiency and customer engagement. The AI Soundbox features an intelligent assistant capable of interacting in 11 local languages, offering real-time business insights, and enabling direct merchant interactions—positioning it as a smart, AI-driven business assistant designed to streamline operations.
