Where is Nida Khan? ‘Phone off, house locked,’ say police as mystery deepens in Tata Consultancy Services Nashik case
The search for Nida Khan, an accused in the alleged sexual harassment and religious conversion case linked to a Tata Consultancy Services BPO unit in Nashik, has intensified, with police and her family offering conflicting accounts of her whereabouts.
Where is Nida Khan?
Police officials say Khan is absconding and efforts are underway to trace her using technical surveillance and field operations. Three teams have been deployed to locate her.
“During the investigation, Nida Khan’s husband was taken into custody within the jurisdiction of a Mumbai police station for questioning,” officials said, adding that the mobile phones of Khan and her relatives were switched off.
Police also stated that her husband claimed she was staying at a relative’s residence, but when officers reached the location, the house was found locked.
Her family, however, maintains she is not in hiding and has been living in Mumbai with her husband since January 2026. Her uncle said she had been working at the company’s BPO unit in Malad until she was suspended on April 9. “She is not running away from anything,” he said, adding that no police team had visited them to inquire about her.
According to the family, Khan studied in Nashik, completed a commerce degree, and is currently pursuing an MBA through distance learning. She joined the BPO unit in December 2021 as a process associate and did not hold any senior role.
Pregnancy claim and legal move
Khan has claimed she is pregnant while seeking protection from arrest. Her family has supported the claim, saying she is expecting her first child and is under emotional stress.
Her lawyer, Baba Sayyad, said an anticipatory bail application is being prepared. Investigators are verifying the pregnancy claim through medical records, as courts typically require documented proof before granting relief.
Role at TCS
TCS has clarified that Khan was not an HR manager or part of recruitment.
CEO and MD K Krithivasan said a preliminary review found no complaints of this nature through the company’s ethics or POSH channels. The company reiterated that she worked as a process associate without leadership responsibilities.
An internal probe is underway, led by president and COO Aarthi Subramanian, with oversight from Deloitte and law firm Trilegal.
What is the case about?
The case began after a woman employee alleged she was misled into a relationship under the false promise of marriage, triggering a broader investigation into workplace conduct.
More complaints followed, and police have registered nine FIRs between 2022 and 2026, naming multiple accused, including Khan. Allegations include harassment, coercion, and religious pressure.
Investigators suspect coordinated actions by some employees to target co-workers and suppress complaints. Authorities are examining digital and financial evidence, including emails, chats, phone records, and CCTV footage, along with witness statements.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case further.
