Ayush Shetty vs Kunlavut Vitidsarn LIVE: Where to watch Badminton Asia Championships semi-final.

India’s young shuttler Ayush Shetty faces the biggest test of his career as he takes on world No. 1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the semi-finals of the Badminton Asia Championships 2026 in Ningbo, China on Saturday.

Giant-killer Shetty on a roll

Shetty has emerged as one of the stories of the tournament with a string of impressive wins. The 20-year-old began by defeating world No. 7 Li Shi Feng in straight games, followed by another solid performance against Chi Yu Jen.

His biggest breakthrough came in the quarter-finals, where he outplayed third seed Jonatan Christie in straight games to seal a medal for India.

The run has been a bright spot for India after early exits for Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy.

Carrying India’s challenge

With the senior players out, Shetty is now India’s lone contender in men’s singles and has already ensured a podium finish — the first by an Indian in the category since Prannoy’s medal in 2018.

It also marks India’s return to the medals at the Asian meet, following the 2023 podium finish by doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.

Head-to-head

The two have met once before on tour, at the Arctic Open 2025, where Vitidsarn won in straight games. But Shetty’s current form and confidence make this a far more open contest.
