Radhika Rao, Vinay Sapru Say No to ‘Kaanta Laga’ Sequel After Shefali Jariwala’s Death.

The untimely death of Shefali Jariwala, best known for her iconic appearance in the 2002 hit music video Kaanta Laga, has left a deep void in the entertainment industry. She passed away on June 27 following a cardiac arrest, at the age of just 42.

In a moving tribute, Kaanta Laga directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru announced they would never make a sequel to the song, saying the track will forever belong to Shefali.

“You always said you wanted to be the one and only Kaanta Laga girl. So we never made a sequel — and we never will. We’re retiring Kaanta Laga forever. It was always yours. It will always be yours… Shefali… RIP,” they wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post.

A Chance Encounter, A Lasting Legacy
Rao and Sapru also recalled the moment they discovered Shefali.

“We were driving down Linking Road in Bandra when we saw a young girl hugging her mother on a scooter. Radhika felt she was special. We stopped and invited her to our office. That’s how the journey began,” said Sapru in an earlier interview with ANI.

The directors shared a photo from their first shoot together and reflected on the prayer meeting held in Shefali’s memory, calling it the “final goodbye.”

Shefali’s Final Hours
Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital late Friday night by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest. She was declared dead on arrival. Her body was sent for a post-mortem, and Mumbai Police have since listed the cause of death as “reserved.” Her last rites were performed on Saturday, with many from the film and TV industries in attendance.

Career Cut Short, But Impact Enduring
After rising to fame with Kaanta Laga, Shefali made a brief appearance in the 2004 film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, alongside Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Despite receiving multiple offers, she kept her on-screen appearances limited, partly due to her battle with epilepsy.

She found renewed popularity on television, participating in shows like Bigg Boss 13 and Nach Baliye 5 and 7, the latter with her husband.
