South Africa Dominate Australia to Seal ODI Series.

South Africa wrapped up the ODI series against Australia in style, defeating the hosts by 84 runs in Mackay on Friday to take a 2-0 lead. Matthew Breetzke’s fluent 88 and Tristan Stubbs’ steady 74 laid the foundation, while Lungi Ngidi ran through Australia’s batting, claiming five wickets.

After early setbacks with the dismissals of Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton, South Africa recovered through Tony de Zorzi (38) and Breetzke, who combined patience with aggression. Stubbs carried the innings forward, and late contributions from Wiaan Mulder (26) and Keshav Maharaj (22*) helped post 277 in 49.1 overs. Adam Zampa (3/63) and Nathan Ellis (2/46) were the only Australian bowlers to make an impact.

Australia’s reply fell apart against Ngidi’s precision. The pacer took 5/42, removing key batsmen including Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardie, Xavier Bartlett, and Adam Zampa. Inglis scored a valiant 87 off 74 balls, but support from his teammates was limited. Cameron Green (35) and skipper Mitchell Marsh (18) made starts but could not convert, and contributions from Nandre Burger (2/23) and Senuran Muthusamy (2/30) helped South Africa tighten the noose. Australia were bowled out for 193 in 37.4 overs.

This victory marks South Africa’s fifth consecutive bilateral ODI series win against Australia since 2016. With one match left, the Proteas aim for a clean sweep, while Australia look to salvage pride.
