Deepika Padukone Out of Kalki 2; Makers Stress on Commitment.
Deepika Padukone will not return for the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. The makers of the Prabhas starrer confirmed the news on Thursday through their official X handle, stating that the film “deserves commitment” and that they were “unable to find a partnership” with the actress.
“This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD… A film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works,” the statement read.
Padukone has not released any personal statement so far.
Second Exit After Spirit
This is the second time Padukone has exited a Prabhas film. She was earlier dropped from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, reportedly over demands related to salary, profit-sharing, and reduced working hours. Vanga, in a fiery post on X, accused her of playing “dirty PR games” and claimed she failed to understand his vision.
Following her exit from Spirit, Triptii Dimri was roped in for the project.
What Next?
With Padukone stepping away, the spotlight is now on who will be cast opposite Prabhas in Kalki 2. The makers are expected to announce the new lead soon.
