Tension gripped Manipur on Wednesday after protests erupted across the valley over the deaths of two minors in a bomb attack in Bishnupur district.
Normal life was severely disrupted, with markets, schools, banks and offices shut, while deserted roads reflected the impact of strict curfew enforcement and heightened security deployment.
In Imphal, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) led a protest rally, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and State Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam. Police used tear gas to disperse protestors after they allegedly violated curfew restrictions.
Protests were also reported from Kakching district, where local groups condemned the attack and raised concerns over alleged use of force by security personnel.

Meanwhile, the state government held a high-level security review meeting involving senior officials and forces, including the Central Reserve Police Force, to assess the situation and step up measures to restore order.
Curfew restrictions have been imposed across multiple districts, including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kakching and Thoubal, as authorities work to contain the unrest.
