Virat Kohli once again grabbed the spotlight with his unmatched intensity on the field during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s clash against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on Sunday, May 17, leaving fans stunned by his energy levels at 37.

Videos of Kohli charging across the field, chasing balls relentlessly and celebrating with trademark passion quickly went viral on social media. Fans flooded platforms with praise, with many claiming the former India captain still outmatches players much younger than him in fitness and commitment.

Several users described Kohli’s work ethic as “crazy” for a player in the latter stages of his career, while others hailed him as India’s greatest athlete for maintaining elite standards after nearly two decades at the top level.

Kohli shines with the bat again

Kohli’s energy in the field followed another important performance with the bat. Opening the innings for RCB, he scored a composed 58 off 37 balls and shared a vital 76-run partnership with Devdutt Padikkal, who contributed 45.

The knock also helped Kohli cross the 500-run mark for the season, extending his record for the most IPL campaigns with 500-plus runs. It was the ninth time he achieved the feat in the tournament.

RCB later accelerated through an unbeaten 73 off 40 deliveries from Venkatesh Iyer to finish on a formidable 222 for four.

RCB seal playoff spot

Punjab Kings never fully recovered in the chase after veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Priyansh Arya in the opening over. Shashank Singh kept PBKS in contention with a fighting 56 off 27 balls, but RCB’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding kept the pressure on throughout the innings.

Kohli also chipped in with a crucial catch at long-off to remove Suryansh Shedge during a key phase of the chase. RCB eventually restricted Punjab Kings to 199 for eight to register a 23-run win and become the first team to secure qualification for the Indian Premier League 2026 playoffs, with Kohli once again setting the benchmark for intensity and fitness on the field.
