Israel’s military said on Thursday that it had launched strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure in and around the southern Lebanese city of Tyre after issuing evacuation warnings to residents.

In a statement, the Israeli military said it was “compelled to take forceful action” against the Iran-backed group and urged people near specific buildings in the targeted area to evacuate immediately and move north of the Zahrani River.

“Remaining in the area places you at risk,” the military warned.

Soon after the evacuation notice, the Israeli military announced on Telegram that it had “begun striking Hezbollah infrastructure in the area of Tyre.”

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that two waves of Israeli strikes hit Tyre and nearby eastern areas on Thursday morning. According to the report, one strike hit a building in the city and triggered a fire.
