Iran Threatens ‘Crushing Response’ to US Amid Renewed West Asia Tensions

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a stern warning to the United States, saying any further military action against.

The Islamic Republic would be met with a “crushing response”, following a fresh exchange of attacks that has heightened tensions across West Asia.

In a statement released on Sunday, the IRGC said its Navy and Aerospace Force jointly launched a missile and drone operation between 2 am and 3 am local time, targeting eight US military facilities, including Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the US Fifth Fleet headquarters at Port Salman in Bahrain.

The Guard said the strikes were carried out in retaliation for recent US attacks on Iranian positions, accusing Washington of violating previous commitments and escalating the conflict.

According to the IRGC, US forces struck five Iranian coastal installations in the early hours of Sunday, claiming the action was linked to the IRGC Navy’s interception of what it described as a vessel that had violated regulations in the Strait of Hormuz.

“The aggressor enemy, for whom violating commitments and breaking agreements are inherent traits, attacked five coastal posts of the Islamic Republic under the pretext of the IRGC Navy’s action against a violating vessel,” the statement said.

The IRGC also warned that Iran would enforce stricter measures in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant share of the world’s oil supplies passes.

“Violating vessels will be dealt with more forcefully than before. Any future enemy aggression, regardless of the pretext, will receive a crushing response—even if, as in the recent attacks, it targets low-importance positions,” it said.

The statement further accused the United States of breaching the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, alleging that the latest strikes violated the ceasefire provisions agreed under the accord.

“The enemy must know that violating the ceasefire constitutes a breach of the first clause of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and will lead to the complete suspension of all processes,” the IRGC said.

The exchange of strikes marks the latest escalation between Iran and the United States, fuelling concerns of a broader regional confrontation as tensions continue to rise across West Asia.
