Jana Nayagan Box Office Day 2: Vijay’s film slows after strong opening, crosses Rs 63 crore mark

Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan witnessed an expected slowdown at the box office on its second day, collecting Rs 21.15 crore net in India. Despite the drop, the political action drama has maintained a solid start, taking its two-day domestic collection to Rs 63.85 crore net, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

The film had opened on a high with Rs 42.70 crore net in India and Rs 78.27 crore worldwide gross on Day 1. As is common with star-driven releases, collections dipped by nearly 50% on the second day after the initial fan rush.

Tamil version leads collections

The Tamil version continued to account for the bulk of the film’s earnings, contributing Rs 17.95 crore on Day 2. The Hindi version added Rs 1.85 crore, while the Telugu version earned Rs 1.35 crore.

With two days of theatrical run completed, Jana Nayagan has collected around Rs 75 crore gross in India, putting it on track for a strong opening weekend.

Mixed reviews, steady audience interest

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film has received a mixed response from critics and audiences. While many have praised its action sequences, emotional moments and Vijay’s screen presence, some reviews have pointed to a predictable screenplay and an overemphasis on hero elevation.

News18 rated the film 3 out of 5 stars, describing it as an entertaining farewell for Vijay’s fans despite its narrative shortcomings.
