IMD Weather Alert: Heavy Showers to Lash Maharashtra, Gujarat and Northeast, Drizzles Likely in Delhi

Weather Update: Heavy rain alert for Maharashtra, Gujarat and Northeast; light showers likely in Delhi-NCR

Several parts of India are expected to witness active monsoon conditions on Saturday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rainfall across Maharashtra, Gujarat and the Northeastern states. Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR is likely to receive light drizzles, bringing relief from humid weather.

Delhi-NCR weather

Delhi is expected to remain under cloudy skies with spells of light rain or drizzle during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 34.6°C, while the minimum may hover near 27.3°C. Parts of the national capital received light to moderate rainfall over the past 24 hours.

Neighbouring Noida is likely to remain slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging between 26°C and 32°C.

Maharashtra on flash flood alert

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is set to continue across several districts of Maharashtra. Authorities have issued flash flood warnings for parts of Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in the Konkan region.

In Madhya Maharashtra, Ahilyanagar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Nandurbar, Nashik, Pune and Satara are also expected to receive intense rainfall over the next few days.

Gujarat to receive widespread rain

Light to moderate rainfall is likely across Gujarat over the next four days, with isolated pockets expected to witness heavy to very heavy showers.

The IMD has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, while parts of Saurashtra and Kutch may receive particularly intense rainfall.

Madhya Pradesh braces for thunderstorms

Rainfall activity continued across several divisions of Madhya Pradesh, including Ujjain, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Rewa.

Bhopal is expected to witness a cloudy sky with thunderstorms, lightning and light rain. Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are likely, while temperatures are expected to range between 24°C and 29°C.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Heavy rainfall is forecast to persist in both hill states, with isolated areas likely to experience very heavy rain from July 27 onwards.

The weather department has advised residents and travellers to remain cautious in landslide-prone regions and low-lying areas vulnerable to flooding.

Northeast to see intense monsoon activity

Heavy rainfall is expected to continue across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura over the coming days.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely across much of the Northeast as the monsoon remains active.

South India forecast

Parts of Tamil Nadu, Interior Karnataka and Telangana are likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

Meanwhile, Coastal Karnataka is expected to receive heavy rainfall under the influence of active monsoon conditions.

Bihar and West Bengal

Heavy rainfall is likely over Bihar, while Gangetic West Bengal may experience heavy showers along with thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next few days, keeping rain activity widespread across eastern India.
