Kangana Ranaut Changes Her Tune on Gen Z, Calls Them ‘Great’ and ‘Part of the Government’

While speaking to reporters outside Parliament, the BJP MP praised the younger generation, calling Gen Z “a great asset” to the country and saying they are an important part of the government’s mandate.

“Gen Z is the strength of our country and, in a way, a great asset to our nation. We are very happy that our young people are increasingly emerging as ambassadors of our culture and its identity,” Ranaut said, as quoted by The Indian Express.

The Mandi MP also spoke about RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and welcomed the growing connection between young Indians and the country’s cultural identity.

“We have also had the opportunity to listen to Mohan Bhagwat ji, whom we hold in the highest regard, and benefit from his wisdom and experience. It is a matter of great happiness that the country’s youth are connecting with us and embracing our cultural identity,” she said.

Ranaut went on to draw a distinction between Gen Z as a generation and the small number of people who had criticised her online.

“Gen Z is part of the government. It is their mandate, which our government has been fulfilling for so many years. Gen Z are great. It’s not like the 10-15 people who are abusing are Gen Z,” she said.

Ranaut’s latest comments come shortly after she faced backlash over her criticism of some young protesters. In a social media post, she expressed strong disapproval of the language and behaviour displayed by certain participants and labelled them “Generation Gutter.”

“Never in my life have I seen so much ugliness in one place. These reels from Gen Z protests are puke-inducing,” she wrote, criticising what she described as “jarring” and “crass” behaviour.

She also questioned the upbringing of those involved, contrasting their conduct with what she called India’s “cultural sophistication.”

Ranaut later drew further criticism for her comments about women participating in the protests. Referring to some as “so-called westernised Indian women,” she accused them of rejecting traditional values and questioned their ability to contribute to society and manage domestic responsibilities.

“I call them Generation Gutter. Some of them have nothing to offer to the system. They are not good at studies. They are so ugly and corrupt that they can’t even be homemakers,” she had said.

The remarks triggered a backlash on social media, with several users condemning her comments. Actor Sonu Sood also reacted to the controversy and described Ranaut’s remarks as “shameful.”

Her latest statement praising Gen Z is therefore a marked departure from her earlier comments, with Ranaut now portraying the younger generation as a key strength and asset for the country.
