Gen Alpha Students Protest Teacher’s Transfer in Jharkhand, Force Block Chief to Flee

With the three-day agitation escalating on Thursday after a confrontation with Kandi block chief Pinku Pandey.

The students are demanding that teacher Malay Singh’s transfer from the local high school be cancelled. The protest, which began at the district collectorate, later spread to Kandi block, where students and other protesters blocked a road.

Tensions rose after Pinku Pandey reached the protest site to speak with the students. During the confrontation, Pandey allegedly slapped a student, further angering the protesters.

Following the incident, protesters allegedly damaged the block chief’s vehicle. Pandey then left the spot and took shelter at the police station. The protesters subsequently reached the police station as well, while maintaining their road blockade and continuing to press their demands.

Along with seeking cancellation of Singh’s transfer, the protesters are demanding action over the confrontation.

The students have remained firm on their demands despite efforts to persuade them to call off the agitation.

A sub-divisional police officer said police had received information about the incident and alerted senior officials. Additional personnel were being sent to the area as authorities attempted to bring the situation under control and convince the protesters to end the blockade.

The administration is now working to ease tensions while addressing the students’ concerns over the teacher’s transfer.
