S Intelligence Doubts Iranian Threat to Trump During Turkiye Visit: Rep

Threat against President Donald Trump during his July trip to Turkiye for the NATO summit, despite the warning triggering a covert change to his travel plans.

The Washington Post reported that Israel passed the intelligence to the CIA, but US analysts reportedly found it unconvincing and conveyed their concerns to Trump administration officials. One official described the intelligence as Israeli-derived, rather than US-generated, and assessed it as low confidence.

Nevertheless, security officials took additional precautions. Trump was publicly portrayed as traveling aboard Air Force One on July 8, but he was secretly moved from the aircraft and transported in an airport catering truck to an Air Force C-32A. The plane then carried Trump and a small group of senior aides to Britain.

The intelligence concerns also influenced the decision not to use the newly inaugurated aircraft gifted to Trump by Qatar for the first leg of his journey home from Ankara. After a brief stop at Mildenhall, Trump transferred to the aircraft and continued his flight to Washington.

A US official said Trump has faced numerous threats, including from Iran, and that the Secret Service had taken all necessary measures to protect him. Asked whether Iran posed a credible threat to Air Force One, Trump said he faces threats “all the time” and indicated that the reporters traveling with him would also be at risk if anything happened.
