Honey Singh Says Yash’s Ravana Looks ‘Better’ Than Ranbir’s Ram in Ramayana

Honey Singh has heaped praise on Yash’s portrayal of Ravana in the trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, saying the Kannada star impressed him more than Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Ram. During an Instagram Live session on Thursday, the singer-rapper reacted to the recently released trailer and called Yash “incredible” in the role.

“Yash bhai Bengaluru se hamare. Ravana bane hain. Sach kahu doston, maine Ramayana ka teaser dekha hai. Main Shri Ram ka bahut bada bhakt hoon. Mera Ravana se koi lena-dena nahi hai. But Yash bhai kya lag rahe hain. Mere opinion mein Ranbir bhai se zyada achhe mujhe,” Singh said.

Honey Singh also clarified that his praise was about Yash’s performance and appearance in the film, while expressing hope that Ramayana remains respectful of the emotions associated with the epic.

He said he hoped the film would not hurt anyone’s sentiments and would retain the purity of the Ramayana and Ramleela traditions that audiences have grown up watching.

“Jaisi hum bachpan se Ramayana dekhte aaye hain, jo hum Delhi mein aur Karampura mein Ramleela dekhte aaye hain, jitni pure thi hamare liye, waisi hi rahe. Koi ched-chhad na ho. Kyuki emotions hain bachpan ke,” he said.

Why Yash Picked Ravana

Yash had previously explained why he chose to play Ravana despite having the opportunity to select a different role as a producer. During an appearance on Aap Ki Adalat, Yash said Ravana’s evil was necessary to showcase the goodness of Lord Ram.

“Ram ka bhalai dikhane ke liye Ravan ka burai bhi toh chahiye,” he said.

He then added with confidence, “Mujhse achcha burai koi dikha nahin sakta.”

When asked whether he had taken responsibility for playing the villain, Yash joked that he would be equally unmatched whenever he took on a good character. Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey are also part of the cast.

The Nitesh Tiwari directorial will be released in two parts, with the first scheduled to hit theatres worldwide on November 8, 2026. The second instalment is slated for Diwali 2027.
