Thailand Visa-Free Travel for Indians From Sept 15: Check 30-Day Entry Rules Before Your Trip

Thailand is set to become a more convenient holiday destination for Indian tourists from September 15, 2026.

Under the latest visa-exemption rules, ordinary Indian passport holders visiting for tourism can travel to Thailand without obtaining a visa beforehand and stay for up to 30 days. But travellers should not mistake visa-free entry for unrestricted entry. Thai immigration officials can still ask for documents confirming the purpose and length of the trip. Here are the key requirements Indian tourists should keep in mind.

Passport Must Be Valid

Your passport should have a minimum validity of six months from the date of arrival in Thailand. Check the expiry date before finalising your travel plans to avoid any last-minute issues.

Carry Your Travel Documents

Keep confirmed return or onward flight tickets, hotel booking confirmations and details of your travel itinerary handy. It is advisable to carry both physical copies and digital versions of these documents.

Don’t Forget The TDAC

Travellers entering Thailand are required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival. The form can be submitted within 72 hours of your arrival.

Use only Thailand’s official immigration website to complete the TDAC and keep the confirmation available with your other travel documents.

Financial Proof May Be Required

Indian tourists travelling under the visa exemption should be prepared to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds for their stay. Travellers may be required to carry at least THB 20,000 per person in cash.

If you are travelling as a family or group, make sure the required documents and funds are readily accessible for each traveller.

Visa-Free Entry Is Only For Tourism

The exemption is intended for tourists. Indian nationals travelling to Thailand for employment cannot use the visa-free route and must obtain the relevant work visa.

If Thailand is being used only as a transit point, travellers should also carry the appropriate visa and documents required for their final destination.

Although the visa exemption makes planning a Thailand holiday easier, final entry remains subject to immigration clearance. Travellers should check the latest rules with official Thai government or embassy sources before departure, as entry requirements may be updated.
