Who Is Himanshu Bhau? Haryana’s Most-Wanted Gangster Reportedly Arrested in America

Haryana gangster Himanshu Bhau, a fugitive wanted in several serious criminal cases in India, has reportedly been arrested in the United States by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), India Today reported. The development could be significant for Indian law enforcement agencies seeking to bring him back to face charges involving murder, attempted murder and extortion.

Bhau, whose real name is Himanshu Ritoliya, belongs to Ritoli village in Haryana’s Rohtak district. Police investigations have allegedly linked him to a criminal network operating across Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Punjab, with several associates suspected of carrying out attacks and extortion activities on his behalf.

An Interpol Red Notice was issued against him in August 2023 at the request of Indian authorities. He has been sought by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi Police and Haryana Police in connection with multiple criminal cases.

Himanshu Bhau’s Rise in the Criminal World
Born in 2002, Bhau reportedly entered the world of crime at a young age and became associated with Haryana’s organised crime networks while still a teenager. According to police accounts, he escaped from a juvenile correctional facility in 2020 along with other inmates.

Investigators have linked him to cases involving murder, attempted murder, extortion, illegal firearms and criminal conspiracy. Authorities allege that he continued to coordinate activities through associates in India while remaining overseas.

Bhau has also been associated in media reports with the Neeraj Bawana gang. His alleged network has been involved in a violent rivalry with the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang, according to reports on organised criminal activities in the region.

Alleged Role in Delhi and Haryana Shootings
Investigators have linked Bhau and alleged members of his gang to several high-profile shootings and murder cases in Delhi and Haryana.

Among the incidents cited in reports are the killing at a Burger King outlet in Delhi and the firing outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s residence. The alleged gang has also been accused of threatening businesspeople and using targeted shootings to demand extortion payments.

Bhau attracted heightened police attention in 2022 after three murders were reported in Haryana within a 24-hour period. Investigators alleged that armed associates connected to his network were involved in attacks on selected targets.

In another case, alleged members of the gang came under investigation over the killing of a property dealer in outer Delhi. According to the supplied report, Delhi Police arrested two suspected shooters after an encounter in September 2026 and detained a juvenile allegedly connected to the case.

These allegations form part of the wider investigation into criminal networks operating across northern India.

Interpol Red Notice and Legal Proceedings
The Interpol Red Notice issued in August 2023 sought international assistance in locating Bhau and facilitating his provisional arrest, subject to the laws of the country where he was found.

At the time, police reportedly said he was wanted in 18 cases involving murder, attempted murder, extortion, criminal intimidation and forgery.

A Red Notice is not an international arrest warrant. It alerts law enforcement agencies in member countries to a wanted person’s identity and requests assistance in locating and provisionally arresting them, where legally permissible, pending extradition or similar proceedings.

If the reported arrest in the United States is confirmed, Indian authorities could pursue the legal process required to bring Bhau back to India. His transfer would depend on the applicable laws, judicial procedures and extradition arrangements.

The reported development marks a potentially important step in the international search for a fugitive accused of maintaining links with organised crime networks in Haryana and the wider Delhi-NCR region.
