WPL 2027: RCB to Face Mumbai Indians in Season Opener as BCCI Announces Full Schedule
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the complete schedule for the fifth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which will take place from January 14 to February 7, 2027. Vadodara and Mumbai will jointly host the 22-match tournament, with each city staging 11 matches.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will launch their campaign against former champions Mumbai Indians in the tournament’s opening encounter on January 14 at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara. The following day, Gujarat Giants will lock horns with UP Warriorz.
The Vadodara leg will run from January 14 to January 24, bringing all five franchises together for the opening phase of the competition. Following a rest day on January 25, the tournament will shift to Mumbai for its concluding stage.
The Brabourne Stadium, managed by the Cricket Club of India (CCI), will host the remaining league fixtures, the Eliminator and the championship final. Mumbai Indians and RCB will meet again on January 26 when the second leg gets underway.
The league stage will conclude on February 3, with Delhi Capitals taking on UP Warriorz. All matches throughout the tournament are scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST.
Mumbai to Host WPL 2027 Playoffs and Final
The battle for the trophy will intensify in Mumbai, where the top three teams will compete for a place in the final. The second- and third-placed sides will face each other in the Eliminator on February 5, while the team topping the league standings will earn direct qualification for the final on February 7.
The fourth- and fifth-placed teams will be knocked out after the league phase. The final will also take place at the Brabourne Stadium.
Announcing the venue arrangements, the BCCI said Vadodara would host the opening 11 matches before the tournament moves to Mumbai for the remaining 11 games from January 26.
The venue changes follow the renovation work currently underway at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, which hosted matches in the previous WPL season alongside Vadodara.
With RCB beginning their title defence against Mumbai Indians, the upcoming edition promises an exciting start, bringing together two of the league’s leading franchises.
