Bhooth Bangla box office Day 13: Akshay Kumar–Priyadarshan film hits ₹200 crore worldwide, pace slows

The horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has crossed the ₹200-crore mark globally on its 13th day, becoming one of the top-performing Hindi films of 2026. Driven by a strong second week, the film reached the milestone comfortably, though its daily earnings are now tapering off with new releases around the corner.

Domestic box office trend

Released on April 17 with previews a day earlier, the Akshay Kumar-starrer opened well, collecting ₹58 crore net in its first weekend and hitting ₹100 crore on its second Saturday.

After a solid second weekend, weekday drops followed the usual pattern. On Day 13 (Wednesday), the film earned ₹3.50 crore net, taking its India tally to ₹124.50 crore net (₹147.90 crore gross). A slight jump is expected over the third weekend, but competition from films like The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Raja Shivaji could limit growth.

Overseas performance dips

Internationally, Bhooth Bangla showed early improvement after a modest opening, earning around $1 million over Days 2 and 3. Its overseas total now stands at $5.6 million after 13 days.

However, collections have slowed sharply, falling below $80,000 per day. The film is likely to finish close to the $6 million mark overseas. Its worldwide gross currently stands at ₹200 crore.

Among 2026’s top films

With this, the film becomes the third Hindi release and sixth Indian film of the year to cross ₹200 crore globally. It is now set to challenge The RajaSaab (₹208 crore) on the yearly charts.

Strong run in horror-comedy space

Bhooth Bangla has performed particularly well within the horror-comedy genre. It has already beaten Sikandar (₹176 crore) and earlier crossed Bhediya and Munjya.

In its second week, it also went past Stree (₹180 crore) and Thamma (₹171 crore), making it the fourth-highest-grossing horror-comedy in Hindi cinema.

Only Stree 2 (₹875 crore), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (₹424 crore), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (₹266 crore) are ahead of it now. Its chances of entering the top three will depend on how well it holds through the third weekend.

About the film

Directed by Priyadarshan, the film marks his return to Hindi cinema after five years and his reunion with Akshay Kumar after 14 years.

The cast also includes Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Mithila Palkar.
