Hanuman Ansh has turned into a remarkable box-office success, emerging as one of the biggest sleeper hits of 2026.

The film, based on the life and spiritual journey of Neem Karoli Baba, started on a modest note but has shown extraordinary staying power nearly a month after its release. Made on a reported budget of just ₹2 crore, the film has now earned around ₹97.99 crore in India gross by Day 29, according to Sacnilk. Its latest numbers mean the film has recovered nearly 50 times its reported production cost.

Hanuman Ansh scores big on fifth Saturday

The film’s impressive run continued on its fifth Saturday, when it reportedly collected ₹10 crore at the domestic box office.

The performance is particularly notable given the competition from other releases. Despite Mirzapur arriving in theatres on September 4 and Toxic continuing its theatrical run, Hanuman Ansh has managed to retain a strong audience.

The film is currently occupying around 47% of theatres, with approximately 5,055 shows across India, according to the industry tracker.

The movie could see another boost with its upcoming international release. The makers announced on Thursday that Hanuman Ansh will be released globally on September 11, 2026, expanding its theatrical reach beyond India.

Who was Neem Karoli Baba?

Neem Karoli Baba, popularly known as Maharaj Ji, was a Hindu spiritual teacher and devotee of Lord Hanuman. His birth name is generally given as Lakshman Narayan Sharma, and he is believed to have been born around 1900 in Akbarpur village in present-day Uttar Pradesh.

He passed away in Vrindavan on September 11, 1973.

Neem Karoli Baba became widely revered for his teachings and spiritual influence. Numerous stories about miracles and extraordinary experiences associated with him have been preserved through accounts from devotees. These stories form an important part of the spiritual tradition surrounding him, although many are not independently verified historical accounts.

  • Hanuman Ansh sequel confirmed
  • The success of the film has also reportedly led to plans for a sequel.

As reported by Hindustan Times, filmmaker Vishal recently confirmed Hanuman Ansh 2 while interacting with audiences at a multiplex in Agra.

The filmmaker said the sequel will explore Neem Karoli Baba’s connection with his birthplace, Firozabad, before tracing his journey to Agra, Mathura and other locations associated with his spiritual life.
