India U19 Eye Revenge Against Pakistan; Aaryavir Sehwag Set for Test Against Ali Raza

India and Pakistan are gearing up for a high-stakes battle in the Under-19 Asia Cup, with the two arch-rivals scheduled to meet in a Group A fixture on Sunday, November 8. Both teams have started the competition with convincing wins, but India’s focus will be firmly on avenging their defeat in last year’s final.

The contest is also expected to feature an exciting individual battle between India’s Aaryavir Sehwag and Pakistan’s fast bowler Ali Raza. Aaryavir, who is the son of former Indian batting great Virender Sehwag, will be keen to continue his impressive run, while Ali will look to trouble the Indian batting line-up once again.

Pakistan enter the contest as defending champions after defeating India by 191 runs in the December 2025 final in Dubai. That result handed Pakistan their first Under-19 Asia Cup title and gave them a memorable victory over their arch-rivals.

India will now have an opportunity to make amends when the teams face each other in Oman.

AARYAVIR ARRIVES IN FORM

India’s opening match against Nepal offered an encouraging glimpse of Aaryavir’s batting ability. The young opener struck an unbeaten 70 from 52 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries and four sixes to help India register a comprehensive 10-wicket victory.

Captain Lakshya Raichandani complemented his performance with an unbeaten 53 off 63 balls. The opening partnership ensured that India chased down Nepal’s 129-run target in just 19.1 overs.

Aaryavir’s attacking approach and ability to score freely will be important against Pakistan, whose bowling unit presents a much sterner examination than Nepal.

ALI RAZA WILL BE INDIA’S BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Ali Raza has already demonstrated his ability to trouble India’s young batters. During last year’s final, the Pakistan fast bowler claimed four wickets for 42 runs and played a crucial role in his team’s emphatic victory.

His victims included Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was dismissed for 26 off just 10 deliveries after an aggressive start. Ali also removed Ayush Mhatre, Kanishk Chouhan and Deepesh Devendran.

India will be particularly cautious about Ali’s ability to generate pace and pick up early wickets. Aaryavir, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to prove himself against one of Pakistan’s most effective bowlers.

USMAN KHAN LEADS PAKISTAN’S BATTING FIREPOWER

Pakistan also have a formidable batting line-up. Opener Usman Khan made a statement in the tournament opener against UAE, scoring an unbeaten 139 off 120 balls.

His innings helped Pakistan chase down 225 in 37.3 overs and secure a nine-wicket victory. Jahangir Bilal and Abdul Qadir also feature in a batting unit that could test India’s bowling resources.

India will rely on Ishan Sood, who picked up three wickets for 18 runs in 10 overs against Nepal. Mohit Ulva will be another important option with the new ball, while Yashveer Goud and Arjun Rajput will be expected to contribute with spin.

INDIA VS PAKISTAN: WHAT IS AT STAKE?

The encounter represents an important early test for both teams. India will be determined to overcome the disappointment of last year’s final, while Pakistan will aim to demonstrate that their championship-winning form remains intact.

With Aaryavir’s promising batting form, Ali Raza’s previous success against India and both teams boasting strong opening-match performances, Sunday’s clash is expected to attract considerable attention.
