Pooja Bhatt Says Soni Razdan Struggled With Guilt Over Relationship With Married Mahesh Bhatt

Pooja Bhatt has spoken candidly about the emotional complexities surrounding Mahesh Bhatt’s relationship with Soni Razdan, revealing that Soni once expressed deep guilt over becoming involved with a married man.

During an interview on Vickey Lalwani’s YouTube channel, Pooja reflected on a heartfelt conversation she had with Soni in Coonoor, where the actor admitted she had struggled emotionally with the circumstances surrounding Mahesh Bhatt’s first marriage.

“Soni once told me she felt extremely guilty,” Pooja recalled. “And I told her that no outsider can break a relationship that is truly strong and complete. If someone is able to enter that space, then perhaps cracks already existed within the relationship.”

Pooja explained that she never blamed Soni for the breakdown of her parents’ marriage and instead viewed the situation with emotional maturity and honesty. The actor also revealed that Mahesh Bhatt had personally informed her about his relationship with Soni before the rest of the family — and long before it became public.

“He woke me up and told me that he had met someone and that he would be moving out,” Pooja said. “But he also reassured me that he would always love me and remain present in my life.” According to Pooja, she appreciated hearing the truth directly from her father rather than discovering it through rumours, film magazines or gossip columns.

“I would rather hear it from my parents than read about it elsewhere,” she said.

Pooja admitted that witnessing her mother Kiran Bhatt’s pain during that phase was difficult, but she added that both her parents handled the separation with dignity and maintained grace in their relationship despite the circumstances.

Mahesh Bhatt was previously married to Kiran Bhatt, with whom he shares two children — Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt. He later met Soni Razdan during the making of Saaransh, and the two eventually married in 1986. They are parents to Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt.

Pooja’s remarks offered a rare and deeply personal insight into how the family navigated a difficult chapter in private while remaining respectful toward one another.
