DC skipper Rishabh Pant continued to show that he is well and truly back.

With the gloves on as he took a stunning catch to dismiss the returning David Miller as GT continued to crumble in Ahmedabad on April 17, Wednesday. Pant is making his return to the field during the IPL 2024 season and has been looking solid with the bat and behind the stumps. This was seen in full flow during the ongoing match.

The catch was taken during the 5th over of the match as Miller was looking to fend off a delivery from Ishant Sharma. The ball would take a slight nick from the bat and went on to hit Miller’s hip, which would almost flat foot Pant, who was going to his right side. The DC skipper wasn’t sure of the catch and had to be forced into the review by his teammates on the day. Ishant was the one who seemed to be the most interested, with Jake Fraser-McGurk also telling Pant to go for the review.

The DRS showed that there was nick on the ball as Miller had started to walk before the ultra-edge even came into the equation.

How well has DC bowled against GT?
DC bowlers have been right on the money after winning the toss on the day and opting to bowl first. Shubman Gill was the first wicket to fall for GT as Ishant got the wicket of the GT skipper. The returning Wriddhiman Saha also had a night to forget as he would chop a delivery from Mukesh Kumar right on to his stumps. Sai Sudharsan wasn’t quick enough to beat a throw from Sumit Kumar. This would then be followed by the effort from Pant.

DC coach Ricky Ponting was seen to be happy with the fielding efforts of his side, which has been a worry this season. Pant would once again come into the act as he pulled off a brilliant stumping of Abhinav Manohar from Tristan Stubbs’ bowling as GT lost their fifth wicket.
