Kejriwal Questions PM Modi Over Silence on Death of Three Indians During US Operation
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly not raising the deaths of three Indian nationals during his recent interaction with US President Donald Trump, saying the issue deserved a stronger response from India.
In a video message posted on X, Kejriwal claimed that the Prime Minister praised Trump during their meeting despite the deaths of the three Indians in a US military operation.
“Three innocent Indians lost their lives, yet Prime Minister Modi chose to praise Donald Trump instead of seeking accountability,” the AAP leader said.
Calls for Stronger Response
Kejriwal argued that the Indian government should have firmly conveyed its concerns to Washington and sought assurances that such incidents would not recur.
According to the former Delhi chief minister, India should have demanded an explanation and an apology from the United States over the deaths of the Indian nationals.
“Every Indian life is valuable. The government should stand up for its citizens whenever such incidents occur,” he said.
Questions Over Modi-Trump Meeting
The AAP chief also referred to media interactions surrounding the Modi-Trump meeting and alleged that concerns regarding the deaths did not receive an adequate response from the US side.
Questioning the Prime Minister’s handling of the issue, Kejriwal said India should project confidence and protect its interests on the global stage whenever Indian citizens are affected by international conflicts or military actions.
AAP Pushes Leadership Argument
The remarks are part of AAP’s broader criticism of the Centre’s foreign policy approach. The party said its concern was not about confrontation with other countries but about ensuring that India’s position is asserted firmly when the lives of Indian citizens are involved.
Kejriwal further argued that strong leadership requires speaking up for Indian nationals regardless of the country involved and maintaining a clear position on matters affecting their safety.
His comments have added to the ongoing political debate over India’s diplomatic engagement with the United States and the government’s response to incidents involving Indians abroad.
