What was meant to be a high-profile return for Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner turned into a security scare after a gunman opened fire, forcing a swift evacuation of top officials.

Trump, along with the First Lady, Vice President and senior cabinet members, was rushed to safety by the United States Secret Service as chaos unfolded inside the venue. Investigators identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, who allegedly entered the Washington Hilton armed with multiple weapons. Minutes before the attack, he is reported to have sent a manifesto to family members detailing his plan and intended targets.

According to reports, the document outlined a list of administration officials arranged by rank. However, Kash Patel was notably absent from the list—an omission authorities have not yet explained. The manifesto also reportedly described the suspect’s motives and tactical choices, though officials have cautioned that its contents are still being examined as part of the investigation.

Allen was taken into custody after breaching a security checkpoint and exchanging fire with law enforcement. An officer was injured but survived, aided by protective gear. Jeanine Pirro, serving as US Attorney for the District of Columbia, said the accused will face federal firearm and assault charges, with additional charges possible as the probe continues.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about security at high-profile political gatherings, even as authorities work to piece together the suspect’s motives and actions.
