Cocktail 2 Crosses Rs 100 Crore Worldwide In Six Days, Domestic Box Office Slows

Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2 has entered the Rs 100 crore club worldwide within six days of release, giving the Shahid Kapoor-starrer a major milestone to celebrate. However, the film’s domestic run has begun to lose momentum after a strong opening weekend, making its second weekend crucial.

According to Sacnilk, Cocktail 2 collected Rs 5 crore on Wednesday, taking its total India net collection to Rs 66 crore. The film opened strongly over its first three days but witnessed a noticeable drop on Monday and has since struggled to maintain the same pace during the weekdays.

Despite the slowdown in India, the film’s overseas performance has helped push its worldwide gross collection to Rs 102.76 crore in just six days.

Rs 100 Crore Milestone Achieved

The romantic drama has become the latest Bollywood release to cross the Rs 100 crore mark globally, aided by steady collections in international markets and a solid opening weekend in India.

While the worldwide figures offer encouragement, trade analysts are closely watching the film’s domestic trajectory, which remains the key factor in determining its overall box office outcome.

Based on current trends, Cocktail 2 is expected to end its first week with an India net collection of around Rs 70-71 crore.

Second Weekend Could Be Decisive

The coming days are likely to be critical for the film as it faces fresh competition at the box office.

Akshay Kumar’s Welcome To The Jungle is set to hit theatres on Friday and is expected to attract a significant share of audiences and screens. The new release could affect Cocktail 2’s collections unless the film manages to benefit from positive word-of-mouth over the weekend.

Reports suggest the film has been mounted on a budget of around Rs 150 crore, though the makers have not officially confirmed the figure.

Mixed Reception From Audiences

Since its release, Cocktail 2 has generated mixed reactions from viewers and critics.

While many have praised the film’s soundtrack, production values and performances, others have felt that it falls short of the impact created by the original Cocktail. Comparisons with the 2012 hit have remained a recurring theme in audience discussions.

The mixed response appears to have influenced the film’s weekday trend, with collections witnessing a gradual decline after the initial surge.

Having crossed the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide, Cocktail 2 has achieved an important benchmark. The real test, however, will come over the next few days as it looks to maintain momentum amid growing competition and secure a stronger footing at the domestic box office.
