Pakistan Set to Send Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan Home After England Tour Disaster

Pakistan Axe Imam-ul-Haq MoPakistan are reportedly preparing to recall Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq from England after a disastrous start to their Test tour, with the visitors losing both matches against the hosts.

Pakistan suffered an innings-and-103-run defeat in the first Test at Leeds before England secured a 194-run victory in the second Test at Lord’s. The back-to-back losses have left Pakistan at the bottom of the World Test Championship standings.

Geo News reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to send Rizwan and Imam back home. The development came after a high-level PCB meeting following Pakistan’s heavy defeat at Lord’s.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, COO Sumair Ahmed, PSL CEO Salman Naseer, senior selector Aaqib Javed and limited-overs head coach Mike Hesson were reportedly present at the meeting.

A PCB source claimed that Naqvi had been informed of growing concerns over the team’s performances and its negative portrayal in the media during the England tour.

“The incident of Imran Khan’s sons’ interview being aired during the second Test on Sky Sports has also upset the powers that be, but more than anything, it is the portrayal of the Pakistan team in the media and their performance that has caused concern,” the source said.

The source added that both Rizwan and Imam were already on their way back to Pakistan. Imam’s place has reportedly come under particular scrutiny, with 23-year-old Abdullah Fazal, who has two Test appearances, expected to be called up to England.

Imam did not bat in the second Test after picking up an injury while fielding on the opening day. However, questions have reportedly been raised within the PCB over the nature of the injury.

The meeting also discussed Mike Hesson’s potential involvement with the Test side. Hesson is expected to remain with the squad for the rest of the England tour, further casting doubt over the future of head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed.hammad Rizwan
