Chiranjeevi Slams AI Abuse Over Janhvi Kapoor’s Viral ‘Chuttamalle’ Video
Megastar Chiranjeevi has condemned the alleged use of artificial intelligence to create a sexually explicit, morphed version of the ‘Chuttamalle’ song featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR from Devara: Part 1.
The manipulated video reportedly surfaced on social media and went viral before being removed. It allegedly used footage of Janhvi Kapoor from the original song and digitally altered it into explicit content.
Chiranjeevi called the incident “cruel, shameful and completely unacceptable” and said the Telugu film industry must come together to tackle the growing misuse of AI.
“I am deeply disturbed by the use of AI to create degrading and morphed videos of a woman. Such acts are cruel, shameful and completely unacceptable. I strongly condemn them,” he said in a statement shared on X.
The actor stressed that the issue should not be viewed as something affecting only one person or film. He warned that similar technology could be used against anyone in the future.
“Today, it has happened to someone else. Tomorrow, it could happen to you, me or anyone we know,” Chiranjeevi said.
Chiranjeevi To Take Up Issue With Film Bodies
Chiranjeevi said he would raise the matter with the Telugu Film Chamber, Producers’ Council and other industry bodies.
He also proposed setting up a dedicated committee and support cell for people targeted by AI-generated abuse. According to him, such a mechanism should work with cyber crime authorities to help victims, coordinate the removal of objectionable content and pursue legal action.
He said those who create such material as well as people who knowingly spread or amplify it must face consequences under the law.
Chiranjeevi also called on the Central and state governments to take stronger steps against the misuse of AI.
Jr NTR Had Already Vowed Legal Action
Jr NTR, who shares the screen with Janhvi Kapoor in Devara: Part 1, had earlier condemned the manipulated version of ‘Chuttamalle’.
Calling the content “disgusting, sick and shameless”, the actor said he would take every possible legal step against those responsible for creating and circulating it.
Jr NTR also appealed to the public not to watch, share or engage with the video, arguing that amplifying such material only causes further harm.
He urged governments to introduce stricter safeguards against the misuse of AI and warned that anyone could become a target of such technology.
Chiranjeevi Urges Public Not To Search Or Share Video
Chiranjeevi echoed Jr NTR’s appeal and asked people not to search for, download, watch or circulate the manipulated video, even if they intend to criticise it.
Instead, he urged users to report such content to social media platforms and cyber crime authorities.
“The entire Telugu film fraternity must come together for this effort,” he said, calling on industry associations, artists, technicians, audiences and fans to collectively oppose AI-generated abuse.
“Protecting human dignity is our collective responsibility,” Chiranjeevi added.
What Is The ‘Chuttamalle’ AI Video Controversy?
‘Chuttamalle’ is a song from Devara: Part 1, which stars Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film released in September 2024.
The song was composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Shilpa Rao. The controversy erupted after an AI-manipulated version allegedly transformed Janhvi’s footage from the song into sexually explicit content without her consent.
