The Jharkhand government has cancelled 44 recruitment examinations conducted by the JPSC and outsourced agencies since 2014, citing alleged irregularities in the examination process.
The move comes amid protests by job aspirants and a day after Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced the cancellation of the JSSC-Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam. The government released details of the cancelled examinations through eight notifications issued late Tuesday. The list covers tests conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) as well as examinations handled by TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL).
Among the cancelled recruitment tests are those held for drug inspectors, assistant professors, deputy collectors, dental doctors, assistant engineers, civil judges, additional public prosecutors and forest range officers.
Exams Across Multiple Departments Cancelled
The list also includes recruitment examinations for lecturers in government polytechnics, senior scientific officers and assistant conservators of forests, along with several administrative and technical positions.
The government has proposed additional measures to deal with complaints surrounding recruitment examinations. It plans to approach the Jharkhand High Court to request a fast-track court for cases involving alleged irregularities in JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations.
An internal vigilance cell is also proposed for both commissions to strengthen oversight of the examination process. Meanwhile, a committee headed by senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal has been tasked with recommending reforms to the JPSC and JSSC examination systems. The committee has been given two months to submit its report.
TDPL Exams Since 2014 To Be Scrapped
The latest action follows an emergency Cabinet meeting chaired by Soren on Monday. The government decided to cancel the JSSC-CGL examination, one of the key demands raised by protesting students. Soren also announced that every examination conducted by TDPL since 2014, as well as the results published by the agency, would be cancelled. The state government has also blacklisted TDPL.
The decisions are aimed at addressing concerns over alleged irregularities and restoring confidence in Jharkhand’s recruitment examination system.
